The Entities Work Backward

Entities, like the Dark Powers or the titular identities of the Magnus Archives, don’t experience time normally and work backward from effect to cause.

That is, if a parcel needs to be delivered somewhere, that’s the starting point. Occurrences, reality, then sort of folds backward: the parcel necessitates a delivery worker, who must have gotten it from a sorting center, which, etc. At the first ‘break’ in attention - the first place it could have materialized without attention or notice and so on, it appears.

Thus, closely-observed things take more energy, but not substantially more, and the end result is kind of guaranteed.
