You have a pool of hit points or health. When you zero out you begin to experience a chance to die.

When your health is negative you make a check at the end of each turn, a percent roll. If it’s under the ab-value of your negative health, you die.

If you don’t act and don’t take damage you roll oncer per minute instead. If you’re alive after 10 mins you self-stabilized.

So, e.g., you have 4 health remaining. An enemy hits you for 16. You’re at -12. At end of turn, roll d%. A 12 or under is death. Next turn you take add’l damage, a 9 point hit. Your health is now -21. Percent roll again.
